Your mind behaves like a child who always expects to get its way. Pick the description that resonates with you most.

Entitled Brat or Pampered Child.

Your mind acts like it’s always indulged and getting its way!

You’ve trained your mind to think, whether negatively or positively.

Now that it’s matured, it seems to have a sense of its own and doesn’t always follow your lead!

Sometimes, you need to focus on something specific, but your mind keeps drifting to whatever it prefers. And when you try to let go of a thought, it just won’t stop running through your head. Many factors, like anxiety, stress, and other mental health conditions, can disrupt your sleep.

As a teenager and young adult, I didn’t worry much about using alcohol or drugs. I continued using until the day I found out I was pregnant at age 31. That same day, I quit everything cold turkey. I consulted with my doctor and shared everything with him.

However, experts generally advise against the cold turkey approach.

Training your mind involves taking control of your choices rather than giving in to temptations and those so-called ‘irresistible’ impulses.

Resist the urge to give in to every craving. When you do, you signal to your mind that it can always get what it wants.

Please don’t confuse this with deprivation—that’s not what I’m advocating.

You can still enjoy Fritos, dark chocolate, or ice cream, as others might seek love, risk-taking/thrill-seeking, or social media attention. The key is to indulge on your terms rather than letting a craving dictate your actions. The distinction is essential. When a craving arises, acknowledge it without letting it control you.

“I often feel the urge to check social media and post frequently, or I want to play that video game.”

It’s essential to experience what it’s like to desire something and not fulfill that desire.

Imagine how refreshing it could be, or would be to pause regularly, even for just two minutes, to appreciate how great things are—without giving in to that inner Entitled Brat or Pampered Child.

Take a moment to reflect on your progress, recognize your blessings, and savor life itself with three deep breaths.

We are constantly evolving, expanding, growing, and learning. Our journey is never complete until we depart from this little planet we call home. Step back and observe the small worries we focus on—they tend to fade away when we consider the bigger picture.
