Doré Frances | Writer, Thinker & Explorer of Human Nature

Welcome to Why Wisdom Is Harder Than You Think—a space for reflection, resilience, and the quiet truths we often overlook.

I’m a creative and spiritual writer with a deep fascination for human nature—how we heal, how we grow, and how we carry our stories.

I believe that understanding ourselves, even in small moments, can transform not only our habits but the course of our lives.

My accolades won’t impress the algorithms. I haven’t dined with Nobel laureates, walked with the Dalai Lama (though it’s still on my list), or shared a stage with Oprah. I’ve never been featured in The New Yorker, and although I’ve appeared on television twice, I’m pretty sure that no one reading this blog has seen me.

What I do have is a life lived fully—sometimes messily, always curiously.Dore & Aspen February 2019

I was raised in California and now live in Colorado with my soulful dog, Aspen. I’ve worn glasses since I was 21, never dyed my hair (except on Halloween), and I need coffee before conversation—ask anyone.

I’m an empathetic introvert who struggles with traditional meditation, an organ donor who wonders what’s still viable, and a daughter, mother, and survivor of many goodbyes. Most of my family has passed away, but their stories still live on within me.

This blog is a place to give voice to the things we carry. Because, as Maya Angelou reminds us:

“There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you.”
